A procession of idiots....

Hot on the success at the Makerfield by-election, Idiot #2 looks set to replace Idiot #1.

Idiot #1 had 4 years waiting to take power. He wanted to be the big cheese but despite having 4 years to plan, he didn't know what the job entailed,  he didn't examine the big picture of what needed fixing -  in fact  he didn't plan at all and when he got the big cheese job pretty much said - I'm a safe pair of hands and the adults are back in the room. He hadn't done any analysis of Britain's systemic problems.  He hadn't come up with any ideas or scenario planning to address the problems. His sole plan was to be the big cheese and not be the opposition.  He therefore coasted along not fixing the foundations and Britain in the meantime has sunk deeper into the mire.

So in comes Idiot #2. We don't yet know what his plans are but based on his track record, there is unlikely to be any substance to  his plans.  He seems a nice chap unlike morally sanctimonious Idiot #1. However his sole plan appears to be the big cheese and not be Idiot #1.  I do not need a leader that is a nice chap.  I need a leader that is prepared to make the difficult unpopular choices to fix Britain's structural problems  - starting with the huge debt pile.

Idiot #1 looks down with a sneering tone at Liz Truss.  I accept Liz Truss's premiership didn't go well but she was a vastly superior leader to Idiot #1 in a number of ways. Firstly she had done some analysis and identified what was structurally wrong with Britain.  Secondly having done some analysis she had a plan to start addressing the structural problem and finally she had the courage to act and execute the plan. She did all of this in her short 49 day premiership.  OK the plan didn't go to plan - other's had been failing to do their jobs for years and she accidentally popped an asset bubble (LDI) that other "experts" should have flagged.  She is a vastly superior leader to Idiot #1 who has done very little to improve Britain. She acted swiftly.  Simply being Idiot #1 will not make things better. Idiot's #1 sole "success" is Breakfast Clubs.   I certainly do not think Breakfast Clubs was the biggest structural problem facing the UK - maybe Idiot #1 should have looked a little deeper.

If Idiot #2 thinks all he needs to do is not be Idiot #1 and have superior nasal clarity - then he is sadly mistaken.    I get the impression Idiot #2 is a nice guy  and that he's a bit of a people pleaser which means he will avoid conflict. Conflict is needed.  Idiot #1 has avoided conflict resulting in U-turn-after-U-turn. Idiot #2 does have the advantage that he does seem to be human...

Britain deserves better.....
