Starmer - full of words not actions
The legal profession is largely about words so I guess it should be no surprise that Starmer is full of words but little action.
Having finished the Labour conference in Liverpool this week where he was more focused on trashing Reform than actually sorting the mess the country is in, I thought it would be useful to reflect back on his first day in power where he made promises in his address.
Here's some extracts from his speech on the 5th July 2024
"When the gap between the sacrifices made by people and the service they receive from politicians grows this big, it leads to a weariness in the heart of a nation, a draining away of the hope, the spirit, the belief in a better future"
Well this definitely feels like now. How prophetic of 2TK.
"I know that, but we can make a start today with the simple acknowledgement that public service is a privilege and that your government should treat every single person [except Nigel Farage or Liz Truss or Boris - hell let's just say everyone in the country] in this country with respect"
How far Labour have strayed from this in such a short time. If you don't agree with their policies then you must be racist, far right or whatever insult they can dream up.
So returning to his speech this week. You can read it here.
He is totally deluded.
Take these statements
"Our economy – stabilised. The foundations of this country – fixed. "
Are you serious? How have you stabilised the economy? What have you done that is positive? We need some facts not just fluffy words. The jobs tax is driving unemployment and business bankruptcy - is that good news? Millionaires fleeing the country to Italy? The economy is in serious trouble and far worse shape than when labour took over.
What are these foundation of this country you have fixed? The mood on the street is getting close to riots or civil war. People are rightly angry.
A country that gives equal voice to every person. [unless we dont agree with your opinion]A country that won’t expect you to change who you are just to get on. [yes we do expect you to change - align or get out]A country that doesn’t just work for you and your family but one that recognises you, sees you, respects you as part of our story. ....Really? My perspective is the government sees me - is envious that I am not dependent upon then and feels the need to greedily steal what little wealth I have. Zero respect.
Seriously you can't make this stuff up. Starmer looks so far out of his depth it is unbelievable.
I enjoy reading your blogs, agree with pretty much everything and just wanted to say thank you.
ReplyDeleteThere are very few days when I don't consider the impact of MTD, EPC's, RRB, Licensing, impending November budget, CGT (on an inflationary gain), IHT etc etc and wonder why I bother.
