Trust - country first, party second - Labour's lies and dishonesty

I would say trust is probably the number one thing in a successful marriage/relationship.

This year we ended up in a new relationship with the Labour government - OK it felt like an arranged marriage but nevertheless it was a fixed term union of the people and Labour.

Killjoy Starmer started off on the 5th July 2024 saying positive things about this marriage.  Here's some extract from  Killjoy's wedding vows:

    "Country first, party second"

"When the gap between the sacrifices made by people and the service they receive from politicians grows this big, it leads to a weariness in the heart of a nation, a draining away of the hope, the spirit, the belief in a better future" [this was aimed at the outgoing Conservatives - not the weariness that Killjoy is inflicting upon us.]

"Now this wound, this lack of trust, can only be healed by actions, not words."

"I know that, but we can make a start today with the simple acknowledgement that public service is a privilege and that your government should treat every single person in this country with respect" [except for those Greedy pensioners, smokers, drinkers, drivers, tax payers and anyone else who is not a Labour crony].

"But whether you voted Labour or not – in fact, especially if you did not – I say to you directly, my government will serve you".

"Politics can be a force for good. We will show that."

"We’ve changed the Labour Party, returned it to service – and that is how we will govern, country first party second".

Personally I feel like I have zero trust in this government.  I usually have a pretty low level of trust with any government however I have never so quickly fundamentally distrusted a government on this scale.

OK we were bored in our last government marriage. We wanted excitement, freedom..... Sadly the grass was not greener on the other side. We haven't got the excitement or freedom we craved.  Instead we have depression, negativity, pain.  Maybe we should have voted for Ed Davy - at least he liked exciting things like skydiving, white water rafting or whatever skills he was trying to demonstrate are necessary for a Prime Minister. Is it too late to have Boris back? At least he was fun and not dreary and miserable like Killjoy.

I certainly don't feel like an equal partner in this rebound marriage we find ourselves in.  It feels like an abusive relationship where I am being violated.

So getting back to the speech  - I don't think Killjoy wrote this speech. It's actually a pretty good speech with some serious wisdom in it.

"When the gap between the sacrifices made by people and the service they receive from politicians grows this big, it leads to a weariness in the heart of a nation, a draining away of the hope, the spirit, the belief in a better future".  Yet  Labour's language since these wedding vows is one of misery and pain - we are being asked to make sacrifices - pensioners are being asked to freeze of death, smokers are banned from freezing cold pub gardens ...the list goes on.

Yet the service we receive from Labour is dire. I struggle to think of anything positive they have done.

I think a few words may have been omitted from his speech

"But whether you voted Labour or not – in fact, especially if you did not – I say to you directly, my government will serve notice on you".

Killjoy is spot on that the hope of the nation is draining away and belief in a better future is dying.  The future looks pretty bleak to me.

Personally I am rapidly reaching the point where I am seriously thinking about exiting from this disastrous marriage. I will up sticks and flee to another country that loves me rather than despises me.  I am searching Tinder   looking for a country that doesn't tell me how painful my life is going to be if I stick in the marriage - I'm looking for "the one" that welcomes me with open loving arms, fair treatment and warm weather. I am not prepared to remain in this negative, abusive, one-sided, depressing marriage. I will flirt around the world, kissing lots of different countries until I find "the one".

There are wise words in the speech which Killjoy should study closely.  Labour has created a huge bleeding wound -  his own words tell him what he needs to do "Now this wound, this lack of trust, can only be healed by actions, not words".   Killjoy needs to start acting in the interests of people not himself and his cronies.  Start by slashing the wasteful civil servants and other public sector employees that are squandering us-the-people's money.

People respond to change rather predictably.  There are defined stages which can be identified in the bereavement curve.    One stage is Denial - "things aren't that bad - they will get better".  Another is Anger - we have already seen there's a lot of pent up anger in the UK and I suspect Starmer may unwittingly be providing an outlet for it.  As the Kaiser Chiefs sang:  "I predict a riot". Killjoy doesnt listen to the mood of the nation - if you dare to vent your anger and frustration then you must be Right Wing...

I am firmly in the Rational Acceptance part of the curve - it's time to leave this abusive relationship and move on. Life's too short to suffer 5 - 10 years of pain.
